Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham

King Shaw Associates provided building services design for the refurbishment of the oldest surviving complete example of a Frank Matcham designed theatre, the Everyman in Cheltenham

Significant enhancements were provided to the heating and ventilation systems to the front of house areas, toilets, bar, ticket office and foyer spaces. Work in the auditorium included the fit out of the control room and rack areas to provide for the needs of modern productions.

The electrical distribution was upgraded with new installations being provided to facilitate complete new technical installations, new lighting installations and associated control systems. New alarm systems were also provided for fire and security.

Whilst new routes for the services provision where inevitable extensive surveys and design solutions where established to maximise the use of existing service routes in order to minimise the intervention of the existing building fabric.

The works were completed in just 17 weeks in celebration of the theatre’s 120th anniversary.
