Kimmeridge, Dorset

King Shaw Associates is currently providing environmental design and building services design for the HLF funded Kimmeridge Fossil Museum in Dorset

The museum will be home to more than 2,000 fossils collected over 30 years by resident Steve Etches – the largest collection of Kimmeridge clay fossils outside of the Natural History Museum in London and contains some which were previously unknown to science.

Along with the Museum the scheme includes a new village hall, community space and education facility which will provide local residents with a new central hub for up to 120 people.

To meet with the low energy aspirations of the Trust a ground source heat pump provides all the heating needs whilst a 100m2 PV array mounted on the south facing roof provides 70% of the electrical needs of the building.
