Royal Albert Hall, London

The World famous Royal Albert Hall faces significant challenges in staging 21 st Century music performances in a 19 th Century building although the Hall is committed to providing the best possible facilities for music performances ranging from the legendary Cream to Henry Wood’s Proms season.

Between 2005 and 2010 King Shaw Associates were retained by the Hall as engineering consultant to develop a strategic plan for future refurbishments and plant renewals to cope with global warming impacts and an increasing demand for performances at the venue.

King Shaw Associates has extensively investigated the building’s passive response to the climate and how this impacts on the performance of the building systems in order to rationalise and improve the building services installations. The practice is also engaged in the design of a number of refurbishment projects to improve the front of house bars, restaurants and function rooms.
