Sacrewell Mill

King Shaw Associates are currently providing the Building services design and Environmental advice for the refurbishment of Sacrewell Mill near Peterborough

The Grade II* Listed Water Mill at Sacrewell Farm forms part of a much larger farm and country centre and is currently used for demonstration and education purposes only.

Improved interpretation and environmental conditions along with protection of the existing building fabric have been the primary challenges for King Shaw.

The adjoining Mill House is to provide a café at ground floor with a mixture of office and residential accommodation on the upper floors for staff and visitors.

A water turbine served by the mill pond in conjunction with a heat pump will provide much of the heat required. The system will be augmented by a radiant heating system within the Mill to provide energy efficient comfort conditions for the visitors whilst not causing a drying out of the existing timber construction. Simple installation also greatly reduces any intervention to the existing building fabric.
