Recent projects include:
Southfield Road – a five-bedroom mansion for Spring Homes
Construction of a bespoke detached mansion on Southfield Road in Bristol for Spring Homes on the site of the former tennis courts adjacent to Redmaids School in Westbury on Trym in North Bristol was completed in April 2018. This beautiful open plan, double aspect dwelling which makes full use of natural light and creates a ‘bringing the outside in’ ambience in harmony with the environment, boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms and an integrated garage. It was designed by Angus Meek Architects and built by contractor B J Campbell (SW) Ltd.
Coniston Community Centre – a three-storey extension with roof-top break-out area
The Coniston Community Centre extension in North Bristol posed an interesting question in the first instance in so far as we had to ascertain if it was structurally viable to design a steel frame to enclose the previously external roof-top break-out area. This done, the three-storey extension was formed using a load-bearing masonry envelope and pre-stressed concrete plank floors.
New 2,745 ft Coaching and Social Facility for the Gloucestershire FA in Almondsbury
This scheme forms part of a £260m national investment by the FA in grassroots football, of which the Gloucestershire FA is benefiting from over £1m in order to enable it to deliver the National Game Strategy within the county. In all up to eight new 3G pitches will be supported in the county, along with improvements to over 50 grass pitches and the provision of coaches and other schemes to encourage both volunteering and wider community participation in football.
95 new four- and five-bedroom homes for Redrow
The Stanley Park development on the site of the former Combination Club in Stoke Gifford, Bristol, is a multi-phase scheme in which we are proud to be working with Redrow (SW) Ltd, providing the sub- and partial superstructure design for 95 four- and five-bedroom homes, some with standalone garages and some with garages built at ground level under the dwelling.
We also specialise in change of use projects, such as this historic scheme to convert an 1870s ‘poor house’ (below) into 14 new one- and two-bedroom apartments, with a wraparound extension to the side and rear of the original building, at St Luke’s Hall in Bedminster, and have an excellent track record in structural glazing design, including for the new Caledonian Road mixed use development in London (above).
